Anne Lynam - traditional photography with a surrealist eye

Every weekend from 11 am to 5 pm, until 15 April, Sydney dwellers & visitors can see an exhibition covering 10 years of Anne Lynam's  photography at Point Light Gallery.
Anne's work shows a unique urban eye with touches of surrealism & art deco photography from early last century.  I first saw her work at Point Light 10 years ago and grab any chance to see her work on exhibition.
She works with black and white film, hand processes film and prints with meticulous perfection.  Her photographs were shot in many cities including Paris, New York and Sydney (proper street art!!).

She has created a Blurb publication "Enigma" (signed copies available at the gallery), which shows a lot of the work on display but not the beauty of actually seeing her silver gelatin prints for yourself - don't miss discovering Anne Lynam.

Midnight posting - exhibition, a new blog, a new photo on an old blog

My eyes are computer sore and it's one of those nights when I've been a long time in the chair with not a lot to show for it but I do have some news & updates.

Firstly, those on my newsletter list will know about the confirmation of my 5th solo exhibition, SANE opening on 25th June at the Albion Street Gallery.   SANE is a collection of collages I have created over the last few months that have a splash of Dada, a smidge of Orwell, a bit of pop and some Americana. There is even a little tease under a few subconscious layers, of the Australian film & TV industry.

Secondly I began a new blog called Buildings & Things last month - check it out when you get a chance.

Thirdly, I have updated my 5 years as a rock moll blog with new photos like this one:

More excitedly, Vivid, Sydney's annual festival of music, light and ideas, which runs from May 27 to June 21, is being curated by Laurie Anderson & Lou Reed - fabbo!

New exhibition...maybe (- part 2)

Re Wednesday's blog - mentioned it to AH - but I got stroppy because any reaction except for cheering sounds like negativity when I'm thinking out my next/current/past - any personal - work... I began with the title 'close to home' no, 'home?' hmmm "Burb?"
Burb ...
sounds good.
So, that's the working title and likely the title and now I've named, no one else is allowed to use it, ok?

Speaking of 'burbs' it's bucketing rain at this moment, which means the builders next door have to go home  

did I say next door? how about right above my head where I am working... then there's the guy that keep walking on the roof - our roof.  "Oh sorry," he says, "Did I give you a fright?"

New exhibition in the making...maybe

I've been going through images & negatives and have come up with the working title "Close to Home" for all the images I've taken in the last while in and around places I've lived in the Inner West of Sydney.

Below - the pie & drinks trailer for the Emu Plains Soccer Club was parked in Newtown a few years ago.  Not something I could easily walk past.

A bit of an exhibition - 5 Years as a Rock Moll

Exhibition is go - despite the heat I got the photos up (123 in total)on time and Madam Squeeze played & then Baby Machine - 3 rock musicians who'd trekked up from Wollongong AND provided a heap of food, played nice an loud.
this weekend has a weather forecast in the hideously hot range so that will be me in the corner, a puddle of my former self, gallery sitting.
